Playray (Aapeli in Finland) is a casual gaming service operating in 14 countries (as of Sep 2008). It combines games, avatars and a lively player community. Site facelifts, site launches at several countries, project management, guiding designers and translators, also wireframes and copywriting.

My artist friend’s long-term art project mikro­Paliskunta was a serie of expeditions that explore Finland. Who is Finnish? What are the symbols of Finland? How has the image of Finland changed? Who defines it? The first expedition travelled by a biodiesel car that was packed with five artists and the project protagonist; a stuffed reindeer Paavo.

The project was to design and produce a spatial, interactive intallation suitable for families with children. The installation represents Christmas Foundation’s partners around the world – toy manufacturers, museums and cities. Client: Christmas Foundation Rovaniemi, Finland.

This book was made for a group of mothers and their children. The book captures everyday happenings and feelings of Eemi, Iivo, Tatu, Venla and their parents. The book also contains recipes. The task included creating the layout, choosing suitable photographs and text styles and preparing the book for print.

A work sample made for a mobile game company. An animated game character, tiling patterns and background for a 128 px mobile phone sceen made within a couple of days. The background graphics were – uncharacterstically to the game genre – inspired by the images of Clifton Karhu.

The project consisted of planning and producing an interactive presentation for cipher research project, Media Lab, University of Art and Design. Texts were provided by CIPHER group. While the “flow” and emerging design issues were planned and discussed together, I was responsible for compiling the animation and the interactive features with flash.

Extraits from a small company’s homesite. The site was created during the ITP 2000 -summer course at HSEBA (now part of Aalto University). Everything was produced from scrath, for the client had no material in advance. Images – visualized metaphors – were created to represent abstract features such as of strategy, risk, growth, learning and customized education, trustworthiness etc etc.
