A visual identity proposal (2005)

The Finnish co-operative of sign language branch (their abbreviation is “VIA”) needed a new look on their website and brochure. Time allowed for preparing the proposal: one day (a design agency asked for proposals from several freelancers/companies, sort of competitive tendering). No changes to the existing logo were allowed. No exiting brand, no style guidelines, no visual material! Right, then…
Menu items on left, changing content on the bottom-right area. Menu changes dynamically, and the rest of the left-side stuff rolls down when needed.
The brochure concept is built around the latin meaning of “Via” (road). Different roads, paths and tracks underline Via’s interpreters’ role as mediators. Finger spellign signs proved to be an interesting element to be developed further in combination with quality photos.
